Iloilo City

This winter i went to the Philippines. Philippines is divided into 3 island groups : luzon, visayas and mindanao. I went to Iloilo city, it's in Visayas island. It takes about 45 minutes from Manila by airplane.

Iloilo is a beautiful city, the native people well known as ilonggo. in common, they speak hiligaynon, tagalog, and English.  Iloilo actually isn't a big city. However, it has so many interesting tourist attractions. The transportation also nice, you should try the jeep (costs 7 pesos/person) and tricycle (you must bargain with the rider!), they're cool! :)

I'll tell you about some big malls in iloilo firstly.
The biggest Mall in iloilo, SM iloilo city, you can find your iloilo souvenir here. There're so many restaurants here, you can  try some iloilo cuisine here! such as batchoy, pancit canton, sisig, etc. they're cheap and yummy! My favorite restaurant here's Mang inasal, you should try this one! the rice's unlimited, you can ask for rice as much as you can eat.  if you're a starbucks lovers you can get your java chips here! =9 it's cheaper.
The second mall in iloilo's Robinson mall. you can exchange your foreign money here, the currency rate's higher than others i think.

Okay, enough about the malls, now I'll tell you about some famous church in iloilo.

1)   Miag'ao church, it's the 1st class municipality in the province of Iloilo, Philippines.  The Miag-ao Church was built in 1786 by Spanish Augustinian missionaries.  this church's also counted as one of the oldest catholic church in iloilo city. You should visit this church, and take some pictures there..!

2) Jaro Cathedral, in this church you can see a growing statue.  the statue will grow every year, it'll get bigger every year.  at last, the statue was small, but now it's getting bigger and bigger, really unbelievable!
* there's an American burger restaurant near this church, Perri Todd's.  you can eat big burgers there!should try this one!

3) Molo church, this church well known as the most feminine catholic church in iloilo, as all the saint statues in the church are female..^^?  The Philippine National Hero Jose Rizal visited this famous church on his way to Manila from exile in Dapitan. He exclaimed as He saw the church "La iglesia bonita!", acknowledging its beauty.

There're some famous church i visited when i was in iloilo. besides malls and churches, you also should visit The University of Phillipines.  You can go there by jeep, the main campus's near the Miag-ao church.

Iloilo city also has a beautiful beach, Guimaras beach. It's good to visit iloilo in January, because there's also a big year festival will be held every last week of January, Dinagyang festival.  I'll write about the guimaras beach and Dinagyang festival in another post! so check'em out! :)
